April 2: Faith: The Bridge Between the Unseen and the Seen

Hebrews 11:3

By faith we understand that the [a]worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

As we study the Book of Hebrews 11, we read about the stories of men who knew God very personally. Some of them even spoke with God, one on one. What is more? Some of them even saw God and lived to tell about it. Reading about their stories helps to shape and grow our faith in God; their stories were about what they believed about God and how that gave essence to the kind of life they lived. They believed the impossible because they saw the invisible, so they could do the impossible. They took God at His Word and acted on His promises. The rest, as it is said, is history. You, too, can believe like they did and have awesome results as they did, for God is no respecter of persons. God will do for you and through you what He did for them when you believe Him as they did. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. God has not changed one bit; He is forever the same. What He does for one, He will do for another when the conditions for doing so are met. When anyone anywhere acts on the Word, God honours their faith right there and then. The Word is given to all for claiming. It is not a personal letter to one, but God’s heart-throbbing love letter to all who cares to read it and take God at His Word.

Our opening Scripture tells us that through faith, we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. What does this mean? It means that faith gives us the understanding and assurance that the unseen can become the seen. The spiritual, non-physical promises of God’s Word can become physical, material realities through faith. Faith then is the bridge between the unseen realities of the Word and the seen realities of nature. Faith says, “Because God has said it, it is good now and I have it now, whether or not it is visible”. To faith, the substance of reality is not physical visibility or sensory perception. To faith, the Word is the substance of reality. So, faith calls those things that be not in the physical as though they had already been because God has said so. Hallelujah!

In the Name of Jesus Christ, I take God at His Word and call things that be not as though they had already been; for my faith is the assurance of my joyful expectation of things promised in the Word of God. I cannot be denied because God’s Word cannot fail, therefore my faith is honoured in Jesus’ Name! Amen.
