The Best of God in His will

April 7: God’s Covenant is Trans-generational and Everlasting

Psalms 89:34

My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

Genesis 17:7

And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

When you study the Bible, you will discover in several Chapters and verses of its books that God is a God of covenant; He is a faithful God, and He loves to show His faithfulness and graciousness to man, from generation to generation. God is an immortal and eternal Spirit King (John 4:24); His reign is everlasting, therefore everything He does, He does with eternity in view. Everything God does, He does with permanence in view, seeing He is immortal and everlasting. When He cuts covenants, He intends for them to abide forever. Our opening verse corroborates the fact that God’s covenants are trans-generational and everlasting. It says God will not break His covenant, nor alter the thing that is gone out of His lips. That is God’s everlasting faithfulness; that is God’s unshifting dependability. Evidently, God is honest; He is faithful; He is dependable and reliable. You can trust Him. He does not let down.

When God made a covenant with Abraham, He meant for it to be everlasting, and it sure was and still is. This is the reason why all of us in Christ are partakers of the covenant blessing of Abraham in Christ, many years thereafter. God still keeps His covenant. He never forgets commitment. He made a covenant with Abraham, and confirmed it with Isaac his son, and with Jacob his grandson, and with Israel his descendants, and with Christ his Seed, and with us in oneness with Christ, Abraham’s Seed, and with anyone and everyone who dares to believe God through Jesus’ sacrificial work on the Cross for humanity. Amazing, isn’t it? So, God’s covenant transcends generations and time; it goes from one generation to another, and from time to eternity. It is also worthy of note that God’s covenant does not wane with time, neither does it wane down the line in potency; His faithfulness is unshifting and unwavering. Hallelujah!!! The God of Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, is still the God of the new man in Christ. What He did for the fathers according to the covenant, He will do for us. He is no respecter of persons. Therefore, as the seed of Abraham, it is up to you to receive the blessings of the covenant as spelt out in the Word. Go ahead and receive by faith, for as it was with Abraham, and his Seed Jesus Christ, so it is with you! Hallelujah!!!

My Solid Front (Confession):

I thank You Heavenly Father, for You are the God of covenant, and Your covenant is everlasting. Thank You for the everlasting covenant which You made with Abraham, which is still in effect today. I boldly declare that I am a partaker of that covenant now and eternally in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Further Meditation:Jeremiah 32:40; Hebrews 13:20.
