And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the Word of His grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified
6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
We are the house of God, we are His temple, we are God’s dwelling place; we are His sanctuary. When Israel went out of Egypt, and the house of Jacob from a people of strange language, Psalm 114:1-2 tells us that Judah was God’s sanctuary, and Israel His dominion. That was a type of our redemption from Satan at new birth. Colossians 1:13 tells us that God has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son, Jesus Christ. Israel was delivered from the tyranny of Pharaoh to become God’s sanctuary and His dominion. We are saved to be God’s sanctuary, God’s house, God’s dwelling place. The Word is the building blocks, the masonry units of this great house. We are built up a spiritual temple where spiritual sacrifices are offered unto God. We are built up by the Word. The Word grows and matures us; it edifies and strengthens us. We tower high in grace, in power, in influence, as God’s house, by the Word.
Paul, by the Holy Spirit, in the opening Scripture, commends the Church at Ephesus to God and to the Word of His grace, which is able to build them up, and to give them an inheritance among all that are sanctified in Christ. The Word is able to build us up. The Word is able to ground us, and root us in the faith. We are to live an established life of faith and love by the Word. When we feed on the Word and live by it continually, we are built up and established in the faith, taking roots downward, and bearing fruits upward. There is nothing as reliable and abiding as an established life in the Word. When we are thoroughly planted and established in faith, in love, and in grace, we turn out fruits ceaselessly. An established life, a built-up life, is a wonder to many. Fruitfulness becomes a lifestyle. Nothing moves an established fellow in Christ, for his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord; for He shall not be afraid of evil tidings. To be established and built up in the Word, you must learn the Word, receive it, believe it, and act upon it daily. As you act on the Word, you are built up. Hallelujah!
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I am built up by the Word. I take root downward into Christ and bear fruits upward unto God by the ministry of the Word. I am a doer of the Word. Amen.
