February 09: Your Mouth is a Spring of Life

Proverbs 18:21

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”

Ephesians 4:29

Let not any filthy word go out of your mouth, but if any is good to building up in respect of need, that it may give grace to the ones hearing.

Words are powerful; they are vessels of power. Words create realities. When you speak, you create your realities. When you speak, you create your world. God created the world by His Word. Hebrews 11:3 tells us that we understand that through faith, the worlds were framed by the Word of God. It shows us the framing power of faith-filled words. You can frame your times and seasons through faith-filled words. Your mouth is a framing tool given to you by God with which you can frame your world. You must take responsibility for your mouth and what comes out of it. Ephesians 4:29 tells us “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace to the hearers.” ‘Let no corrupt communication…’ it says; which means you are responsible for the words that you speak. Don’t let the enemy hijack your mouth and run it for you. Take charge of your mouth by the power of the Holy Spirit within you. Exercise dominion over your mouth in the Name of Jesus Christ.

One very easy and scriptural way to rule your mouth is by filling your heart with the right ‘stuff’ – the Word of God. The mouth does not have a mind of its own; it depends on the intelligence of the heart. The Word tells us that the mouth will always speak out of the abundance of the heart. Therefore, the heart rules the mouth. When the heart is full of trash, the mouth will speak trash. Whatever the heart is full of, the mouth will speak. Choose to meditate on the Word. You don’t have any business thinking any thought that is not in your interest. Any thought that is alien to your destiny does not need to attract your attention. Most importantly, refuse to give expression to any thought that is inconsistent with the Word of God, in words. When you refuse to speak negative thoughts from your mind, and you speak the Word instead, the negative thoughts will die.

My Solid Front (Confession):

In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I take responsibility for my mouth and the words that it speaks. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I refuse to let any corrupt communication proceed out of my mouth, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Further Meditation:

Colossians 4:6; James 1:19-20.
