July 11: The Word Feeds Us

Matthew 4:4

But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God

Jeremiah 15:16

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LordGod of hosts.

The Word is nutritious and filling to our spirits. It is spirit food; it is life and health to us. The opening verse succinctly reveals that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. The Word is our life and sustenance of it. We are born again by the Word and are sustained by the same. Just as much as the natural life depends on natural food, our spiritual life, life in Christ, depends on the Word. Therefore, it is important to feed on the Word daily. We eat the Word daily. We internalize it, digest it, and draw strength from it, non-stop, continually, consistently, daily. Our life in Christ is of the Word, and is sustained by the Word. The Word is our food of and for life. Glory to God!

Jeremiah said, Lord, I found your Words, and ate them, and they have become the joy and rejoicing of my heart (Jeremiah 15:16). What joy and rejoicing he had eating the Word. What joy and rejoicing we all also ought to have eating the Word. The Word is our vitality; it is our strength. David wrote in the 27th Psalm and verse one, the Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? How? The Lord has become our light and salvation, and the strength of our life, through the Word, His Word. When we feed on the Word, we feed on His light and salvation, we feed on His strength; for the Lord and His Word are one. Hallelujah! God has simplified Himself by giving us the Word. The Word has brought God home to us. So, as we feed on the Word, by meditating in it and practicing it, we feed on God’s light, and salvation, and strength. Beloved, put the Word first in your life. Give it first place. Let the Word feed you, and grow you. The Word is able to build you up. Hallelujah!

My Solid Front (Confession):

In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I am fed by the Word, therefore I give myself to meditating in the Word daily. I declare that I am a doer of the Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
