September 2: Living out the Glory of God

July 2: Walking in Newness of Life

Romans 6:4

“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

Romans 12:2

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Romans 6:4 “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us that any man who is in Christ is a new creation, and that old things are passed away, and all things have become new. When anyone gets born again, they become brand new beings in Christ, with no reference to their past. This is what the Word of God teaches.

The man who was in the world before new birth or salvation died at new birth. At new birth the old man ceases to be and the new man comes into being. The old man of sin and unrighteousness, who always wanted to sin and to disobey God, died with Christ and was buried with Him; and when Jesus was raised from death, the new man came into being. When a man reposes faith in Jesus Christ as the risen Lord from the dead, that which Christ has done for man in His substitutionary work, takes effect in Him immediately. He becomes born again, a brand new man in Christ; the old is gone and the new has come. Hallelujah!

Today’s opening Scripture speaks of walking in newness of life. It tells us that we were buried with Jesus Christ by baptism into death, and that like Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. What does it mean to walk in newness of life? It is giving expression to the new life that we have received in Christ; it is allowing the new man find expression through the soul by faith.
When the soul or mind is renewed by the Word of God, the new man that we are in Christ finds free and unhindered expression through us to the praise and glory of God. The only evidence or proof to the
world that we are born again is newness of life made manifest in walking by the renewed mind; walking according to the Word; walking in love.

In John 13:34-35, the Lord Jesus tells us that, by walking in love, the world will know that we are His disciples. You must let the truth of who you are in Christ shine bright in you so much so that you begin to walk in the light of it. Give yourself to meditation in the Word until the Word of God, the light of your true identity in Christ, begins to shine bright in you, and until you begin to act out the image of the glory of God that you see in the Word. Don’t let your faith be evil spoken of; give expression to the ‘you’ that’s in Christ!

My Solid Front (Confession): In the Name of Jesus Christ, I declare that I am a new creature in Christ; the old man is dead, and the new man is come into being. I live out the newness of life that I have received in Christ. I walk in the light of the Word and reflect the light of the glory of God. Amen.

Further Meditation: Romans 6:1-4; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21.
