And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Romans 12:2, our opening verse, is a cast of the will of God for us in Christ Jesus. It reveals very clearly how that God does not want us to be conformed to this world of darkness and wickedness, but to be transformed into the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, by the renewing of our mind. When one gets born again, it is the real person within, the spirit person that gets born; for that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit (John 3:6). But the soul is not born again; it needs to be renewed by the Word of God, it needs to be restored to God’s way of reasoning, God’s way of doing things. David says in Psalm 23:3 that the Lord restores his soul. The soul needs to be restored to alignment and agreement with God. Renewing the mind is God’s way of aligning the consciousness of the soul to the desires of the new man in Christ, the born-again man within, such that we become conscious of God’s way of doing things, and begin to walk in the light of the Father’s will.
Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the renewing of the mind, so we may prove the good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. When the mind is renewed, the will of God as to His purpose for us becomes crystal clear. We become acquainted with God’s will in regard to how He wants us to live our lives to the end that we might please Him in all things. If we are not going to be conformed to the world, then we must be transformed by the renewing of our mind. There is no neutral status mode. We are either renewing the mind unto transformation, or we are conforming to the world. Renewing the mind is meditating in the Word and acting upon it. When we let the Word run in us such that we are taught, governed and mentored by the Word, our mind is renewed. Give the Word first place in you. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly.
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I am a new creature in Christ, and that my mind is ruled by the Word of God. I give myself to consistent meditation in the Word for daily renewing of my mind in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
