All things are new in Christ

July 9: Prioritize the Development of Your Spirit

1 Thessalonians 5:23

“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Proverbs 20:27

“The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.”

Proverbs 20:27 “The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.”
Today’s opening Scripture establishes the fact that God leads us through our spirit. It says the spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, which means that God leads us through our spirit nature; He leads us from inside out. Therefore it is in our interest to give priority to the development of our spirit nature. Man is a spirit, he has a soul, and lives in a body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). Since it is with our spirit that God leads us, then we have to be spirit-conscious to access divine guidance. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 shows us the order and priority of the three dimensions of man: spirit, soul and body. The spirit comes first, the soul, and then the body. This means that we must prioritize spiritual things. You must give earnest heed to spiritual things. Your spirit occupies the core of who you are. The expression of your life, purpose for living and the fulfillment of destiny will all happen from inside out – from your spirit into your soul and
made manifest in the body. Life lived in the flesh without any spirit essence is futile and vain; it is empty
of reality and essence.

The spirit of man is the real man; it is the control room of man. When the spirit of man is greatly influenced by the Word of God, it thrives and prospers with exuberant life and ecstasy. When you prioritize your spirit in the affairs of life, you make real progress. You ascend from glory to glory. You take quantum leap and rise above failure and the limitations of life. How do you prioritize your spirit in all that you do? You must meditate in the Word consistently and take out time to pray in other tongues. When you pray in tongues, you are activating and exercising your spirit.

Make sure to meditate in the Word daily, and act upon it. Let the Word of God dwell in you richly, in all wisdom. Be quick to act upon the promptings of the Spirit of God within your born again spirit. Be deliberate, intentional and strategic when it comes to spiritual things. In decision making, don’t ignore the promptings of the Spirit in your spirit. Take time to pray and listen to the voice of the Spirit within your spirit before taking steps or making decisions. Give attention to what is happening within you, and respond accordingly.

My Solid Front (Confession): I am a spirit being with the capacity to relate with the Spirit God. God will guide me through my spirit; therefore I declare that I am careful to pay attention to my spirit, and to put it ahead of my soul and body. Amen.

Further Meditation: 1 Corinthians 14:14-18; Proverbs 18:14.
