June 11: Faith: The Believer’s Response to the Word

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.”

Luke 1:38

Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

Faith pleases God. Every time we make moves of faith, God is pleased. God is a faith God, therefore, He expects us His children to live by faith. Romans 1:18 tells us that the just shall live by faith. Those who have been justified by faith in Christ Jesus shall live by faith, the same faith by which they have been justified. Nothing best defines the life of the child of God in Christ other than faith ─ absolute dependence and trust in God ─ that demands and creates action. Faith is the way we live and walk. 2 Corinthians 5:7 tells us that we walk by faith, not by sight or sensory perception. God deals with us on the ground of faith, and He expects us to respond to Him by faith. Faith is the way we live; it is our way of life in Christ, it is the way we respond to God. It is our attitude of victory to life and to life’s challenges; for this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith (1 John 5:4). Faith is the understanding and inclination of the man in Christ; it is our forte and fortitude. Indeed, the just shall live by faith. Hallelujah!!!

Mary the Virgin received a Word from the Lord as to her giving birth to a child without the help of a man. She reasoned within her how that could be, seeing that she knew not a man. The angel of the Lord responded and said to her that the Holy Spirit shall come upon her and the power of the highest shall overshadow her, and she would conceive. Having understood the divine process back of her supernatural conception, she said to the angel, “Behold your handmaid, be it unto me according to your Word.” She surrendered to the Word of God. She let the Word gain the ascendancy over her; she allowed the Word rule her life and consciousness. What a miracle that was, and what a miracle it produced! She was a miracle as a believer, she carried a miracle in her womb, and her life was every bit and every way a miracle. That’s what happens when we respond to the Word in faith. Israel in the wilderness didn’t make profit with the Word preached to them because of a poor response to the Word. Hebrews 4:2 tells us that the Word didn’t profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. Their carcasses littered the wilderness because of unbelief. Therefore, we need to give the most earnest heed to the Word of God. Hallelujah!!!

My Solid Front (Confession):

In the Name of Jesus Christ, I declare that I have the right attitude to the Word of God. I give attention to personal study and meditation in the Word. Therefore, my faith is strong and I get great results. Amen.

Further Meditation:

John 4:39-42; Hebrews 4:1-2.
