“For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.”
“Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
Vs 22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.”
Faith works by love. Love energizes faith; it forms the foundation for the outworking of faith. Today’s opening verse speaks of what is vital and important in Christ Jesus. It says the important thing in Christ is not fleshly circumcision or uncircumcision, but faith which works by love. What is the New Testament commandment all about? It is wrapped around one thing: Love – the love of God. 1 John 3:23 “And this is his commandment, that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.” The commandment of the New Testament given to us by the Lord Jesus Christ is that of love: Loving one another as He has loved us, and this is how we are known as Jesus’ disciples.
The Love Commandment forms the bedrock of faith towards God and His kingdom. We cannot claim to love God and disobey His commandments. Jesus speaking in John 14:15 declares: “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” Keeping the Commandment of love is proof of our love for the Lord; and His commandments are not burdensome: Walking in love towards one another in compassion, forgiveness, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit by following peace with the brethren, praying for one another, and walking in benevolence and hospitality towards the brethren. Love is the energizing, uplifting power of faith. Faith works by love – the love of God.
How did God demonstrate His faith towards saving us from sin and all its consequences? John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” God’s faith towards us leaped out of His love for us. He revealed the secret of overcoming, ever-potent, ever-productive faith. When love is the stimulant and energy of faith, it will never fail; for love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8). God’s love never fails; therefore faith energized by love, never fails. Glory be to God! Hallelujah! Beloved, let the love of God motivate you to believe God for the salvation of your loved ones, to be a blessing to people around you, to transform lives and see destinies fulfilled. Let the love of God motivate and stimulate faith in you towards people, being patient with them and making intercessions for them to come unto maturity in Christ. Let the love of God move and rule you. Amen!
My Solid Front (Confession): In the Name of Jesus Christ, I declare that I am motivated, stimulated, energized and ruled by the love of God. My faith is founded on the solid foundation of God’s love; I refuse to give in to hatred, unforgiveness and strife, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
