March 29: How to Recognize Life’s Opportunities

Job 28:10

He cuts out channels in the rocks, And his eye sees every precious thing

Ecclesiastes 3:1

To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven

It is worthy of note to know that opportunities don’t come in familiar packages. Opportunities always come in hidden, undisclosed identities. You have to be on the lookout for them. You must stand at alert to be able to recognise opportunities. Mostly, opportunities like to play hide-andseek games. Mostly, opportunities come in disguise. You have to be prepared and trained to uncover ‘undercover’ opportunities. Job, in our opening verse, tells us that God cuts out rivers among the rocks; and His eye sees every precious thing. That’s profoundly awesome! So, what looks like a rock, difficult and challenging could be a river channel. Solutions can come out of problems. Light can come out of darkness. Amazing! It is no wonder, therefore, that God commanded light to shine out of darkness (2 Corinthians 4:6); not light from light, but light from darkness. Every problem, therefore, has in it the solution in seed form. Opportunities come wrapped up in problem packages. They may look like a crisis at hand, but as you look intently with the eyes of faith, you will see the precious thing in it. The mistakes people make is, they look for opportunities with the label ‘opportunity’ on them. Opportunities don’t carry labels with their exact names on them; they carry labels of problems, crises, challenges, and confusions. Look beyond the presentation or label. Check out the content. Look beyond sight. See through your eyes with your heart, and you will be able to recognise opportunities.

Opportunities are actually possibilities of time and event. That means, what may be possible or could be the possibility of the time that you are in now; what you can make of the present moment. It also speaks of events; in other words, what you can make of the events in your life now. That is what opportunity is all about. And the truth is that opportunities abound everywhere, and are available every day. Any time there is an event playing out in your life, beloved, there are opportunities in them. There are opportunities in time, there are opportunities in events. David got to the palace by making the most of the events playing out in his life. He was a shepherd boy who could play the harp well, and people noticed him. He didn’t have to go around looking for an opportunity in the palace; he did what he had to do well and that paved the way for him to the palace.

I declare that by the Spirit of God, I recognize and correctly discern all the opportunities that come my way. In the Name of Jesus Christ, I do not miss my opportunities; rather I make the most of them therefore, I make progress in all my ways. Amen
