March 9: Be Careful Who You Listen to

Genesis 3:11

“And he said, who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?”

Proverbs 18:21

“A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.”

Words are the building blocks of our lives. We were made of words. We live in a Word-sensitive world. John 1:1-3 tells us “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made”. When God wanted to make man, He said “Let us make man in our image, and after our likeness…” There was nothing God made without the Word. Evidently, everything made by the Word must respond to the Word. There is intelligence in all things made by the Word to respond to the Word. This is the reason we all respond to words. Be not deceived, we all respond to words. You are word sensitive. Therefore it is important who is speaking into your life; it is important who you are listening to. Words make and words mar. Your God-given potential will respond to the words that you hear consistently. Words are meant to fertilize your potentials; they are meant to catalyze your fulfilment in life.

Who you give the right to continually speak into your life is the sculptor of your destiny. Your life will turn out according to the words you have been listening to. Be careful who you let speak into your life. When Eve gave the serpent permission to engage her in a conversation, she eventually disobeyed God’s command to her. Who you share your challenges with, who you take counsel from, whose instruction you obey, matters. Let your heart be guarded with the bridle of discretion and discipline.

Be deliberate about what you want out of life. Decide how your life will turn out; be resolute about the outcome you want from life. Any conversation that is not feeding your spirit with strength, and is not stirring you up unto good works is not worth it. You don’t have to keep listening to people who are speaking you unto death. Choose life, choose prosperity; choose progress. Don’t let your life go in an opposite direction to God’s plan for you. Be careful who you listen to.

My Solid Front (Confession): In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I choose my counsellors and teachers wisely; I refuse to let words inconsistent with God’s Word for me seep into my heart. I only listen to the Word, and anointed and Word-based teachers. Amen.

Further Meditation: Ephesians 4:29; 2 Timothy 2:16-18.
