For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Today’s opening Scripture reveals that being born again is not by the works of our own righteousness but the operation of the Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ. It says we are children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. This truth is reinforced by Titus 3:5, which says we are born again by the washing and regeneration of the Holy Spirit through the Word, not by the works of our self-righteousness. Being born anew is not an achievement or an attainment. It is a gift of God that comes to us by faith in Jesus Christ. When we repose faith in Jesus as to His finished works for us, we are recreated, we become born again. This is the work of the Holy Spirit done through faith in Jesus Christ. The effort of man cannot make it happen. Romans 10:9-10 tells us that when we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in our heart that God has raisedHim from the dead, salvation is the result. We are not meant to fast our way into salvation, no! We are not meant to struggle our way into it, no! It is God’s gift of eternal life through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s why we preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We do not believe that people who do good will be saved by their good works. Good works, as good as they are, cannot save anyone. Salvation is only in the Name of Jesus Christ, and it is through faith in Him.
Now that you are God’s child through faith in Jesus Christ, you ought not to live as though a bastard, without a Father. Now you have a Father, and He is the Creator and Owner of the whole Universe. Your Father owns everything, and you are an heir of God and a joint-heir with Jesus Christ. Let the reality that you are now God’s child shape your life; let it shape your expectations about life. You are no longer living life without the Father factor. Your heavenly Father feeds the birds of the air, let Him feed you. Go to Him in prayer with the consciousness that He has made you righteous with His very own righteousness. Don’t listen to the devil when he reminds you of your past. Your past is past, for in Christ you have redemption, even the forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 1:7). Make the most of your new creation status as a child of God. Bask in the glory of it with thanksgiving unto the Father.
My Solid Front (Confession):
I believe that Jesus the Son of God died, and was raised from the dead for my justification. I acknowledge His Lordship over my life today and forever, therefore I can boldly say that I am a child of God. I am a member of God’s royal family. I live in the glory of God’s son in Jesus’ Name. Hallelujah!
