The Best of God in His will

May 16: Continue in the Love of God

John 15:9-10

“As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.”

I John 2:28

“And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.”

Our opening Scripture reveals the admonition of Jesus to His disciples as to continuing in the Father’s love for us. The Lord Jesus tells us that He has loved us even as His Father, our Father, has loved Him. And He went on to admonish us to continue in His love for us. The love flowing from the Father’s heart through Jesus Christ is the same love in the heart of every believer in Jesus today. Jesus loves you with the same love with which the Father loves Him – same quality and intensity of love.

Evidently, the Father does not love Jesus more than He loves you in Christ. He loves you with the same quality and intensity of love that He loves Jesus with. Jesus says in John 17:23 that “I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.” In other words, He is saying that He wants the world to know that the Father has loved us as He has loved Him. There is no doubt as to how much the Father loves us. He loves us as much as He loves Jesus! Hallelujah! Glory be to God! You can let your legs loose in dancing because the Father loves you as He loves Jesus. Amen!

Furthermore, having known that the Father loves us as much as He does Jesus, we ought to know how to continue in this love. The Lord Jesus told us how to abide and continue in this love. In our opening Scripture, the Lord tells us that if we keep His commandments, we shall abide in His love, even as He has kept His Father’s commandments, and abide in His love. What is His commandment? Verse 12 of John 15 tells us “This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.” To continue in the Father’s love for us is to abide in love for the brethren; love for one another. John 13:34-35 tells us “A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” This is the key to abiding in the Father’s love and staying in oneness with Him. Hallelujah!

My Solid Front (Confession): In Jesus Name, I declare that I have the love of God in me; I have the ability to continue in the love of Christ. The Grace of God is at work in me, therefore, I keep the Lord’s commandment; I am in oneness with God, walking in love towards the brethren.

Further Meditation: 1 John 5:2-4; Acts 3:5-7.

This is God comfirming His word in clear terms. The thought of the equality of God’s love; the quality and intensity has really helped me. Although I have some questions but there is this knowing on the inside that God loves me.

    Thank you Pastor Segun.
