May 9: Perfection through Fellowship with the Word

Hebrews 1:3

“Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high”

Genesis 1:26-27

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

In Genesis 1:26-27, God said to make man in His image and after His likeness. Verse 27 of Genesis 1 tells us that God actually did what He intended to do. It says in the image of God He created him, and male and female, He created them. However, sin came into the Garden of Eden, and by transgression, death entered into the human race, and soiled the beautiful thing God had made in the beginning. The blessed and glorious image of God in man was soiled by the curse of sin. There was need for the redemption of man from sin and all its consequences. Jesus stepped into time and became man’s Substitute. He took our place and redeemed us from the curse of sin. He then recreated us in God’s image, from the corrupted image of sin unto righteousness and true holiness, with a sole goal in view, which is the perfection of man in total conformation to the flawless image of God in union with Christ Jesus.

We know that Jesus Christ is the flawless or express image of God. He is the perfect expression of God to us. When God made man, He made Him in His image according to our opening Scripture; however, that image was spotted by sin in the Garden of Eden when man fell by transgression. Jesus Christ came to remove the spot from that image, to cleanse the image of confusion and misrepresentation. Hebrews 1:3 tells us that Jesus is the brightness of the Father’s glory, and the express image of His Person. He is the flawless image of God. He came to remind us of our origin; what our lives ought to be like, and so, when you get born again, you begin to learn the Word of God to understand who you are as the image of God. You are the expression of God’s character, that’s why immorality is not natural with you; sin is not natural with you. Ignorance and foolishness are not natural with you, because you are the image of God. And God has given us His Holy Spirit, that by Him we might know the things that He has freely given to us in the Word (1 Corinthians 2:12-14). And as you learn the Word and practise it, your mind is renewed to who you are in Christ, and you grow into Him in all things. That is where we are all going in our walk with God – unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; the flawless, spotless, express, perfect image of God. So, fellowshipping with the Word in meditation and doing the Word, is the way to get there. Hallelujah!!!

My Solid Front (Confession):

I am born of God, made in the image of God and after His likeness. I declare that I live by God’s Word and get results in the order of the God-kind in the Name of Jesus Christ. I grow unto perfection in all things as and like Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.
