“Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
“Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Every man in Christ has received a brand new life through faith in Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us that every man in Christ is a brand new being or creature, and that old things are passed away, and all things are become new. The man in Christ is not a reverberated, panel-beated, upgraded man; he is a brand new creature, who never had been or never was. He is a new species of being, created after God in righteousness and true holiness. The new life in Christ is altogether, in every sense, by all standards, of God. It is the divine nature, or being, or life. We are partakers of the divine nature in Christ, for we have escaped the corruption which is in this world through lusts. Graciously and amazingly, this new life is a gift from God through faith in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
When you got born again, your spirit, the spirit you, the real you, got born again. Your mind was not renewed all at once when you got born again. It is meant to be renewed in the process of time. Romans 12:2 tells us to not be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of the mind. Now that you are born again, you need to renew your mind to the Word, that you might know in your soul what had taken place within your spirit. Man is primarily a spirit being, that has a soul, and lives in a body. To know that you are marvellously made by God, your soul has to know it; to know that you are a brand new man in Christ and be able to walk in the light of it, your soul has to know it; which means your mind must be renewed to the truth of the Word of God. Renewing the mind is restoring the mind to God’s frame of thinking and doing things, which happens by meditating in the Word and acting upon it. Our opening Scripture tells us that we were buried with Christ through baptism into death, and we were raised with Him from death by the glory of the Father, that we might walk in newness of life. Having and maintaining through fellowship with the Word, a mindset of life in union with Christ by the Spirit is what it is to walk in newness of life.
My Solid Front (Confession): In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I am walking in newness of life, for I reckon myself to be dead with Christ and alive with Him by His resurrection power to walk and reign with Him.
