November 4: Engaging Faith

Mark 11:23

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

Faith is needed to walk with God. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that everyone that comes to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Through faith, therefore, we come to God, get His will done in our lives, receive the fulfilment of His promises to us, and ultimately endear ourselves to Him. The ultimate goal of faith is to facilitate fellowship with God. In Hebrews 11:5-6, the Bible speaks of how Enoch walked with God and was translated that he did not see death. Enoch’s reward for walking with God was that he did not see death, but his faith in God was to one end: a walk with God. Engaging faith to meet our needs and have the will of God done in our lives is important and scriptural; but in the end, it must engender fellowship and intimacy with God. By faith, Abraham walked with God, and received the promise of Isaac, but in the end, he became the friend of God. Intimacy with God is the end result of true bible faith

Today’s opening Scripture tells us that we can get impossible things done by faith. We can root out a mountain and hurl it in the sea by faith. Amazing, isn’t it? The Lord Jesus taught that faith can be used or engaged as an instrument to achieving a definite goal or purpose. Jesus taught His disciples this principle at different occasions. One time, they were faced with a storm, and became afraid. Jesus asked them, “Where is your faith?” (Luke 8:25). In other words, He expected them to put their faith to work in the midst of that situation but they didn’t. At another time He said to them, “Have faith in God for verily I say unto you whosoever shall say unto this mountain be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea and shall not doubt in his heart but shall believe that those things he sayeth shall come to pass, he shall have  whatsoever he says” (Mark 11:23). He was teaching them to use their faith as an instrument of victory against all odds. How is that done?
Jesus said “whosoever shall say to this mountain”. You will have to use your faith by saying what you believe. Do you believe that by the stripes of Jesus you are healed? If yes, then you will have to say it with your mouth. Many a time, God’s people don’t know that faith actually requires confessing or saying what you believe, and maintaining your confession. That’s how to engage your faith to see the performance of every Word that God has spoken to you.

My Solid Front (Confession):

I declare that I use my faith as an instrument; therefore, I receive and take hold of that which God has given me in Christ. Healing is mine, health is mine. Prosperity is mine, peace is mine in Jesus’ Name. Amen
