October 08: God of Provision

Genesis 22:14

“And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah jireh; as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.”

Philippians 4:19

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

From time immemorial, history has proven that God provides for His own. The account of creation in Genesis reveals God’s big plan and purpose to meet all our needs according to His riches in glory by the living and creative Word. For whom did God make the world and the fulness thereof? Who did God make that much investment for? Why did He create the earth, and for whom? Does God eat bread? Does He wear physical garment? Does He use the vast reserves of mineral and natural resources? He made all that for man, of course. The Account of creation tells us that God created man last. Why? He didn’t want man wanting and waiting and hungry while He makes the things that they would require. Everything was ready before He made man, the crown of creation and lord of it all. This is suggestive of God’s providence style. There is nothing that you require now that He has not already made. He has made ready for you everything that you will ever require in life.

Abraham was not an exemption to this order. God tested his faith and commitment to Him by asking him to sacrifice his son Isaac on one of the mountains of Moriah which he would show him. He stepped out in faith to do exactly as commanded by the Lord. The Lord then intercepted him from killing Isaac; then he lifted up his head and saw a ram, which had its horns trapped in the bush, and sacrificed it instead of Isaac. Who trapped the ram there? Who prepared the ram for such a time as that? Well, Abraham called the name of that mountain or place Jehovah Jireh, which means, in the mountain of the Lord it shall be seen. What shall be seen? What the Lord had provided before time began.

The Bible reveals that the omniscience of God is not passive, but active; His foreknowledge isn’t weak and void of providence. What God saw ahead of time, He prepared for. Our redemption was prepared for before the world began. The Word tells us that the Lamb of God was slain before the foundation of the world. God saw ahead of time that we would need a lamb of redemption and made provision, for known unto God are all His works from the beginning of the world. In the same vein, your life from scratch to finish was known to God before time began, and He had made provisions for you. Let the Lord lead you into His provisions for you. Follow Him a step at a time, and you will never lack anything good.

My Solid Front (Confession): Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your love for me, and that You have made adequate provisions before the foundation of the world to meet every of my need; and I thank You for leading me into provision daily. Amen.
