“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;).”
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Our opening Scripture shows us something profound about God’s love for us. It says God commends His love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Christ Jesus did not die for us because we were worthy to have Him die for us. We were yet sinners, and He died for our sins to redeem us from all iniquity. Hallelujah! God’s love for us dates back to before the foundation of the world, and was demonstrated towards us at Calvary in the substitutionary work of Christ. Even when we did not realize what God was doing in the substitutionary work at Calvary, Jesus still took our place and died for us. This is an amazing love! Extraordinarily amazing and unconditional! Hallelujah!
Come to think of it, God did all that for us while we were yet enemies, wouldn’t He love us much more now that we are His children regardless of our faults? We need to believe in the love of God for us, and not let the devil deceive us into thinking that God is indifferent about our needs; we need to let the love of God for us overwhelm and saturate us so much so that loving Him back is effortless. Remember, God’s love for us is the cause of our love for Him. 1 John 4:19 tells us that we love God because He first loved us. Our love for Him is the effect of the cause of His love for us. Stop having a hard time trying to love God by keeping His commandments! Believe in God’s unconditional love for
you unreservedly! Let the crucifixion, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ be proof of God’s love and commitment to you. Don’t doubt it. Anyone who dies to set you free evidently loves you unconditionally. To love with one’s life to the point of losing it for love, is love indeed.
You need to believe in the love of God irrespective of your shortcomings; you need to respond to that love because that’s the same love that will help you respond to God favourably and positively. You have to begin to walk in the light of His love. God would not have done all that He did for you at Calvary if He did not love you. God loves you! Stop focusing on your mistakes, focus on His love for you, and in no time, you will begin to respond to Him by keeping His commandments; and that’s victory over mistakes and inconsistencies. Glory to God!!!
My Solid Front (Confession): I declare that I am the beloved of God. Nothing can separate me from the Father’s love. As Jesus abides in the Father’s love, I also abide in the Father’s love for me. Amen.
