Faith and the Blessing

1 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

4 So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

In Genesis 12, God called Abraham out of his country, his people, unto a place that He wanted to show him. God made awesome promises to Abraham regarding his coming out of his country. Abraham, in response to what God had promised him, departed from his country and his native people; he demonstrated what is known as the obedience of faith. He heard God’s Word and immediately acted on it. Verse 4 of Genesis Chapter 12 says “So Abraham departed…”and all through his life, Abraham obeyed God every step of the way. He never assumed a posture of disobedience in any way contrary to the posture of the blessed. He took the posture of submission or obedience to God. Faith is the posture of the blessed, absolute faith in God. Faith is not opposed to obedience, and obedience is not opposed to faith, either. Faith and obedience are two sides of the same coin. You cannot truly believe God without obeying Him. In fact, your obedience is proof that you truly believe in God. Faith in God creates and demands the obedience of faith. You obey God because He is God and He is worthy of your obedience. Preeminence or sovereignty belong to God and to the Word. As people of God, we obey God without questioning the authority of the Word; for the authority of the Word is unquestionable!

So, what is faith? Faith is absolute trust in God. It is total reliance and dependence on God. To walk by faith indeed, you must trust God with your entire life. The account of Abraham’s life in Scriptures revealed to us the possibility and reality of trusting God with our lives. Father Abraham showed us that we can follow God unto greatness and eternal relevance; his life is a template of faith to follow. Since father Abraham trusted God and inherited the promise, you too can trust God and inherit the promise of fruitfulness and eternal relevance. As a believer, if you are not willing to trust God with your life, though you are blessed in Christ, the blessing will not manifest, simply because you are not taking the posture of the blessed; which is surrender, obedience of faith, worship unto God. God is not going to reverse His blessing because once He blesses, He has blessed, but the big question is: ‘Are you going to live worthy of the blessing? Are you going to live under the influence and the impact of the blessing?’ Are you going to walk in the blessing?’ Now, understand that we, God’s children who have been justified by faith, live by faith and not by sight. Faith in God is how we walk in the blessing! Trust God with your life by doing what He tells you to do!

MY SOLID FRONT (Confession):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I maintain the posture of the blessing all the days of my life. I walk by faith every step of the way, trusting absolutely in God and relying confidently in Him in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
