how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region.
The blessing is God’s empowerment to prosper and to go forward. Advancement in life is by the blessing. The blessing of God makes rich and adds no sorrow to it. Our opening verse opens with the revelation behind the successful ministry of Jesus Christ. It says, how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him. The secret to the huge success Jesus Christ had in His earthly ministry was the anointing of God’s Spirit upon Him. That was what caused Him to prosper in all that He did. The anointing of the Spirit upon Him was the blessing of God upon Him, prospering Him in all His ways. Every result Jesus Christ got in His earthly ministry was as a result of the anointing of the Spirit upon Him and the ministry of the Spirit in and with Him. The anointing of the Spirit is the blessing of the Lord and that is what is responsible for increase, multiplication, progress and fruitfulness. Wherever the ministry of the Spirit is permitted and welcome, there is liberty and increase! In Isaiah 44:3 the Word tells us, “For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my Spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring.” Here, the Spirit of God is the blessing of the Lord.
Getting filled with the Spirit and allowing the power of God’s Spirit inundate us makes room for the operations of the blessing of the Lord in our lives. The Spirit of God on the move is the blessing on the move. When Jesus was anointed with the Spirit and power, His ministry opened up and His fame went abroad. The Spirit upon Him was the blessing on Him, and that blessing caused everything He did to prosper and to be fruitful. Hallelujah! As believers, we are meant to be filled with the Spirit of God every day, acting on the instructions given in Ephesians 5:18-21. When you are filled with the Spirit, the blessing of the Lord is activated and everything around your life blooms and booms with fresh life and fruitfulness. Beloved, be not drunk with wine, but be filled with the Spirit. The Spirit of the living God working in us, is the blessing working in us. Be filled with the Spirit every day! Hallelujah! Amen!
