God is the Creator of all things. Our opening Scripture shows us that without Him, nothing was made, or came into existence. If there is anything God has made that has a counterfeit, it is the enemy trying to create a duplicate of the original made by God, the Creator Himself. In fact, the enemy does not have any right or power to create anything or bring anything into existence other than what God has already commanded. The enemy can only thwart what God has already created, because the devil is not original in anything. So, if he wants to bring death into existence, he causes people to go against what God has said, of which the consequence is death. For example, Ephesians 6:1-3 admonishes children to obey their parents in the Lord and honour their father and mother, that it may be well with them and that they may live long on the earth. So, the enemy tries to create scenarios where the child will offend, thereby go against the Word of God and create by so doing, another outcome contrary to God’s desire for that child; but we are not unaware of the wiles of the devil. Therefore, choose to walk in wisdom and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, never to be offended, neither to give offence or take it regarding your parents, both biological and spiritual.
Remember in the beginning, when God made the man in the garden, in Genesis 2:16-17 “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” God was the first to mention death as the consequence of sin, not the devil. What the devil simply did was to cause the man to go against that which God had said to man, thereby initiating the process of death. In Genesis 3, he came to the woman in the form of the serpent and deceived her (Genesis 3:4, 6-7). The devil couldn’t create death all by himself, he doesn’t have that power; he simply caused man to go against God’s Word, to the end that man might die; that’s his assignment, to steal, to kill and to destroy. Therefore, as God’s child, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). Refuse to be a target. How? Resist the devil (1 Peter 5:9); take authority over him!
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I take authority over the devil and all his demons, and I resist their temptations to lure me into walking in dishonor towards my parents and spiritual authority in Jesus’ Name!
