As a child of God, you cannot do life by yourself. You need a guide and God has made adequate provisions for you to be guided. First, you need a guide in the person of the Holy Spirit who dwells in you. When Jesus the Lord was going to depart, He called His disciples and introduced to them the third Person of the Trinity, that is, the Holy Spirit. He said in John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever.” He said I will not leave you as orphans (John 14:18), meaning I will not leave you without help, I won’t let you figure it out all by yourself. In John 16:13, Jesus said the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth, Jesus Christ Himself being the Truth (John 14:6; 17:17); therefore, the Holy Spirit will guide us into the revelation of Jesus, He will reveal God to us, and God’s plan for our lives. You cannot walk with God without the Holy Spirit; for He is the One who guides our path in life. Jeremiah 10:23 says “O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.” David then capped it up in Psalms 37:23, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delights in his way.” How does God guide us? By His Spirit. You will not miss your steps in life when you allow the Holy Spirit to lead you and you follow His leadership.
Another way God guides us is through instructions from anointed men or women sent by God to us, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, as they teach and preach the Word of God. In Jeremiah 3:15, God says “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.” God’s sent ones to you are meant to speak to you the Word, feeding you with knowledge and understanding such that light as to what to do and how to do it bursts forth on your inside. The answer you need might be locked up in anointed messages that had been preached and God will direct you to the exact one to listen to, it might also be in books or in the mouth of believers (friends and loved ones), with words that will connect you from where you are to where you ought to be. As you seek answers to the questions in your heart, first by receiving God’s Word about what you are in faith for in the place of prayer and following the guidance of the Holy Spirit, through guides in people, books, messages, words of exhortation, vital relationships, that which you desire will become a reality. You are taught by the Lord and great is your peace in Jesus’ Name!
