18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The Word of God has pre-eminence over all things. John 1:1-3 tells us that the Word was in the beginning, and that all things were made by Him. The Word was before all things. The Word is the Creator of all things; therefore, pre-eminence belongs to Him. Our opening Scripture reiterates the pre-eminence of the Word by saying that Jesus Christ, the living Word, is the head of the body, the Church, and that He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead. With all that under His belt, He must have pre-eminence over all things. The Word is Alpha and Omega. The Word is sovereign. Absolute and unquestionable authority belongs to the Word. The Word has final authority over all things. There is no power that is, in heaven, in earth, and beneath the earth, that is not subject to the Word. Supreme authority and rulership belong to the Word of God. The Word is on top of everything.
Colossians 1:16-17 tells us, “For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: And He is before all things, and by him all things consist”, and verse 19 of Colossians 1 tells us, “For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fulness dwell”. All fulness is in the Word, and He is before all things, and by Him all things consist. Standing before the Word is standing before Omnipotence; it is staring face to face at Pre-eminence. The Word is Almighty. Whatever the Word says is final, no matter what. Nothing can alter the authority of the Word. Make the Word final authority over your life. Submit to the sovereign authority of the Word, and let it take its rightful place in your life. Refuse to question the authority of God’s Word in your life. Accept the Word as your present moment reality. Rejoice in the Word today and always. Let the joy of knowing that the Word has pre-eminence in all things overwhelm you. Nothing can overcome the Word, and as you stand on the Word, nothing can overcome you. Put the Word in your ears, and in your mouth, and in your heart, and let it flow out of you abundantly. Meditate in it, speak it, and act upon it. You have it right in your heart and in your mouth, the very power by which God created all things and upholds all things. Hallelujah!
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that the Word has pre-eminence in my life, and that everything pertaining to my life is subject to the sovereign authority of the Word. Amen.
