20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
The same way natural pharmaceutical drugs work in our body only when we have used them according to the doctor’s prescription, so does the Word after we have received it into our heart. The Word doesn’t work for you just because it is written in the Bible, or it is on the pages of the Bible. The Word works for you only by faith; and until the Word gets into your heart it cannot produce faith, for faith is of the heart. We believe with the heart, not with the head. Natural human logic is not in the realm of faith. Faith exists only in the realm of the spirit of man – the heart. The Word will work for and in you when you believe it, and until it gets into your heart, you cannot believe it. Listen, knowing God’s Word in your spirit is real faith. That’s how God’s medicine is received and applied; it is applied from the heart.
The question now is: How do we take God’s medicine? How do we apply it to our lives? Now, understand that the Word is applied from the heart. When you get the Word into your spirit, you have successfully applied or used God’s medicine. The Word is God’s medicine for our health and healing. The Word at work in us is God’s medicine at work in us. Now then, how do we get the Word into our spirit? The answer is right there in Proverbs 4:20-22 which says: First, give attention to the Word. Second, incline your ear unto God’s Word. Third, the Word must not depart from your eyes. Fourth, keep it in the midst of your heart. Simply put, taking God’s medicine (getting it into your heart), the Word, requires the following 4 steps:
1. Give undivided attention to the Word (put the Word first in everything).
2. Incline your ear unto God’s Word (listen to the Word; give hearing to what God has to say).
3. Don’t let the Word depart from your eye (keep God’s Word before your imagination/consideration; see what God is saying to you and see yourself the way the Word sees you).
4. Keep the Word in the midst of your heart (hold the Word dear to your heart; to the core of your being). That’s how to apply God’s medicine to your life and entire being. Hallelujah!
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
In the Name of Jesus Christ, I declare that I am born of the Word and of the Spirit of God; therefore, I receive the Word, God’s medicine, into my heart gladly and joyfully unto healing and health in Jesus’ Name!!! Hallelujah!!!
