The Word of God is so important to us that we cannot live without it. The Word tells us in Matthew 4:4, “man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God”. So, we live by the Word of God; that’s what our life in Christ is all about – the Word. The importance of living by the Word cannot be overemphasized due to many reasons. One, we are born again of the Word of God which lives and abide forever, which means we are sourced by the Word. Two, we are sustained by the Word. Our growth and sustenance come by the Word. Three, everything that we need for life and godliness has been given to us in the Word of God. It is in the Word that we find our inheritance among the saints. In the commonwealth of saints, God’s Word gives us our inheritance. Acts of the Apostles 20:32 tells us that the Word builds up and gives us our inheritance among those who are sanctified. Four, the Word is a lamp unto our feet, and a light unto our path. Therefore, it is so important to learn the Word. We must give heed to the Word to guide, feed, sustain and educate us in life.
How do you learn the Word of God? First you must receive the ministry of the Word of God. What does that mean? Understand that the Word is your life and living, and that it has final authority over you. We live by the Word, and it is Lord over us. We don’t argue with the Word; rather we submit to its authority. Jesus is Lord of the man in Christ, and so is the Word; for Jesus Christ and the Word are one. When you go to Church, or in your personal study of the Word, receive the Word as your life, living and final authority. Don’t argue with the Word; you are not in debate with the Word in any way. You may reason the Word, but don’t ever fight the Word. It’s a battle you will never be able to win. We are all naked and open to the living Word with whom we must do! Therefore, let the word minister to you, let it talk to you, address you, address your needs, your situations, your circumstances. Let the Word of God speak to you; for God’s Word is God speaking to you. Meditate on the Word, act upon it and let the Spirit of God meet your needs by it. Hallelujah!
