The first attribute describing the Holy Spirit in the Bible is movement. Genesis 1:2 tells us that in the beginning, the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. It then says the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. The Spirit moved or brooded upon the face of the waters. This describes the very first characteristic of the Spirit of God. He loves to brood or move upon things and people alike. Why? He is the life Giver; He ministers life to all who believe in God by Jesus Christ. Why did He move or brooded upon the face of the waters? He was getting the earth ready to receive the seed of the Word that was about to proceed from the Lord’s mouth. The Spirit of God prepared the earth to hear the Word of the Lord. The Word of the Lord is powerful to produce whatever the Lord has commanded because the Spirit’s moving or brooding brings about the manifestation of the Word. There cannot be manifestation without the brooding or moving of the Spirit. When Mary the Virgin was bewildered by the word of the angel as to conceiving and having a child without the help of a male man, the angel said to her that it would happen by the Spirit of God (Luke 1:34-35). The manifestation or fulfilment of the Word spoken to Mary came to pass by the Spirit of God. When the Spirit moves over you, He prepares you to receive the revelation of the Word, and even more so He brings the Word to pass in and through you.
When we pray in other tongues as the Spirit of God gives us utterance, we let Him brood upon us. Praying in other tongues amongst other scriptural means is one way to let the Spirit take you over and make a beautiful glory piece out of your life. 1 Corinthians 14:4 tells us that he who speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself. To edify yourself is to build up or strengthen or encourage yourself. How? The Spirit builds us up as He broods or moves upon us as we pray. Make out quality time in prayer as you let the Spirit of God move over you. Great things will happen as you let Him move upon you. Let Him do it today and daily!
My Solid Front (Confession):
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the brooding ministry of the Spirit in, on and through me. In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I am made alive and revitalized by the Holy Spirit daily. Amen.
