Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, [b]fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
There are a lot of believers that once upon a time got filled with the Spirit but are not Spirit-filled in real time anymore. There is a world of difference between getting Spirit-filled and staying Spirit-filled. Instead of asking believers the question, are you Spirit-filled? Just observe the believer’s life clearly and you can tell whether he is Spirit-filled or not. When asking whether a believer has been filled with the Spirit or not, the question, “Have you received the Holy Spirit?” sounds more like the question one might ask and not “are you Spirit-filled?” So, at new birth or when a believer received the infilling of the Holy Spirit, the believer is said to be filled with the Spirit of God then, evidenced with speaking in tongues. So, the believer received the Spirit of God. But the question is: are you Spirit-filled? Spirit-filled people are known by certain things. There is how you can tell that a brother or sister is Spirit-filled. Do you ask a drunk man “are you drunk?” He will tell you, “Can’t you see that I am?” When he starts saying certain things inconsistent with common sense, you can tell that he is drunk.
The truth here is that Spirit-filled believers can be seen or known just by looking at them, as there are certain qualities that they manifest. Don’t forget, the Bible tells us that there is one initial receiving of the Spirit, however, there are many infillings of the Spirit. There are certain things to do to stay in that flow, to stay filled (continually filled) with the Spirit. Certain things will begin to manifest in your life, and you’ll begin to exhibit certain qualities. When the Apostles and disciples of old were filled with Spirit, what happened? Acts 2:4 shows us that they began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Scriptures record that “they began to”, not that they spoke in tongues. So, they didn’t stop, they continued. There is a sustained impact of the Spirit on your life when you pray in tongues and continue. Your spirit is alive to God, your spiritual antenna is quickened to pick up divine signals. Beloved, keep building up yourself on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.
SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I confess that I am given to prayer, particularly praying in other tongues. I yield my tongue to the Spirit of God, pulling on the utterance He gives me! Amen!
